Discount retailer to hold interviews Thursday and Friday in Ontario to fill more than 300 jobs

ONTARIO - Discount retailer Dollar General on Thursday and Friday will hold interviews to hire more than 300 workers for its expansion into the Inland Empire.

The hiring will be at job fairs at the Best Western Plus Ontario Airport, 209 N. Vineyard Ave. from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

To support its expansion into the Golden State, discount retailer Dollar General is creating 1,300 jobs in Southern and Central California, beginning with the session in Ontario.

The discount retailer has job opportunities available at all levels, such as retail, field, distribution center management and general warehouse positions.

More hiring is expected as Dollar General expands in California.

Dollar General offers competitive wages and benefits for employees and has been recognized for its employment of veterans and service members, according to a news release from the firm.

"We're looking forward to bringing Dollar General's model of convenience and value to new communities in California," said Rick Dreiling, the firm's chairman and CEO.

"We are reaching new communities and creating opportunities for Inland Empire job seekers."

The projected jobs follow on the heels of three years of positive job growth for the company, according to the news release.

Including projected hires for 2012, the company will have created more than 21,000 new jobs since 2009.

Dollar General plans

to serve California shoppers in suburban, rural and metropolitan markets by distinguishing itself with low prices on products that families use and replenish often in convenient, neighborhood-size stores.

California will be Dollar General's 39th state.
